COMM 1 10:30-12:00 Assignment (JOINING SENTENCES)


1. Mark Twain or known also as Samuel L. Clemens lived in Hartford for several years and is the author of a classic American novel entitled Huckleberrry Finn. 
2. Mark Twain's elaborate and elegant house was located on Farmington Avenue in an area called Nook Farm where he had a neighbor whose name was Harriet Beecher Stowe, the writer of Uncle Tom's Cabin.
3.  Mark Twain piloted steamboats on the Mississippi in his youth and because of that,  he had windows and a balcony on a large side porch in his home which made the people remind them of a steamboat, 
4. Among the three people Hartford, Mark Twain was the first one to own the first used commercially in nearby New Haven called the telephone because there was practically no one to talk to but he did not like it.
5.  Mark Twain loved industrial inventions and as a result of that, he lost a fortune in investing them but yet he was able to invent the elaborate  Paige typesetter which was developed at the same time with a simpler and less expensive machine called the Linotype.
6. Mark Twain never felt the same about the house again because of her daughter, Susy, who died due to spinal meningitis which made him left the house in Hartford and only returned once for the funeral of his friend, Charles Dudley Warner.
